[Zenith News=Byeon Jinhee] The detective Joo Mi-ran, played by Park Se-young was a girl crush itself.
Park Se-young, in the recently ended MBC drama 'Special Labor Inspector' tried to portray her character in a realistic manner by dressing in rough clothes, using an easy-going way of speaking, and intentionally increasing her weight. Park Se-young, who returned to the home screen after a long time, met with viewers with a splendid transformation.
Zenith News and Park Se-young recently met through an interview at the end of 'Special Labor Inspector' at a cafe located in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. She said, "I finished the drama with a very pleasant and good memory. Thanks to the pleasant ending, It’s a pity that it has ended but it wasn’t a pity.”
Though it was Park Se-young, who has greeted the public with a new work every year since her debut, it was a pity that we couldn't see her activities last year. After a year and two months since 'Money Flower', which ended in February last year, we were able to meet her at 'Special Labor Inspector’. Park Se-young settled down at a new company in the meantime and had a break to reflect on herself.
"Rather than taking a break for my fatigue, I rested because I liked the job so much that I felt like I wanted to do better in the future. I used to be very busy doing my work, and when I finished, I was busy taking the needed sleep and doing my next work. I didn't have time to think about myself calmly and carefully. Taking a break from work itself took a lot of courage, but in the end, I'm satisfied because I think I've had a valuable time. After looking back at myself, my thoughts and behaviors were changing. I found out that 'I've been living like this with these thoughts.’ I wanted to be more independent, so I live alone now."

'Special Labor Inspector' which Park Se-young took on after a break, tells the story of six-year civil servant Jo Jin-gap, who used to be a violent judo teacher, but now tries to be indifferent to anything, but is also appointed as a labor supervisor at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and then begins to punish the high handed employer for his wrongdoings. Park Se-young played the role of the chic realist maniac detective, Joo Mi-ran.
"I've been thinking about my life, and sometimes I felt like I was the only one having a hard time. Then, this work came in. The biggest reason why I took on 'Special Labor Inspector' was the message. Though there's a story about breaking down being bossy, but I liked it because the ordinary people are the main characters. I have a problem, and the characters in 'Special Labor Inspector' have a problem. Everyone has an ideal, but we all try to adjust ourselves to the reality and live. That was something I sympathized with. On top of that, there was a realistic and idealistic side for Joo Mi-ran. It was very similar to me. Joo Mi-ran takes action but I can't. I really wanted to do this because I was so attracted to such things."
The drama was sympathetic to many viewers, and the character Joo Mi-ran was also loved by many. Park Se-young, who has played mostly student, childish villain, and urban woman roles, has succeeded in transforming her image by 180 degrees. She has sometimes performed splendid actions, played an important role in solving the case, and served as a cheerful cider.
"I had different genres from my previous works, and the characters were very different. I felt pressured, but I started it with a desire to be satisfied with the fact that at least I tried. In the beginning, I felt like I was acting for the first time, and I felt like I was on a roller coaster alone. I was thinking about it, and I put myself down, then I was able to act happily. I've always done the beautiful roles with many accessories. I didn't mean to take it off, but I challenged with the idea of doing something new. I put it down for sure as a result.”

Recently, works that feature strong-minded women, who lead the play with independence, have gained much attention. Kim Dong-wook was the main character of 'Special Labor Inspector', but the impact given by Park Se-young was intense.
"It's my personal taste, but I love the way women look cool. You can't say 'strong' or 'weak' are the characteristics of women. I think they’re just a human being. I think it's just a story about the sides that were not handled usually. I don't think only the middle aged women are strong, but I think we need to show that a woman has multiple sides as a person."
Park Se-young, who officially debuted in 2012, has been consistently active in her works, including 'School 2013', 'Glorious Day', 'My Daughter', 'Geum Sa-wol', 'A Beautiful Mind', 'Whisper' and 'Money Flower'. Park Se-young showed her own growth as she matured through her work.
"I've only been working for three years since my debut without thinking. I can't plan things and cannot say 'I should play this character next time', but I think I've always done it in the way I can. Actresses can act only when they are chosen. If I think about it now, there were a lot things, but I think they were something that nourished me. Some of them were too hard and I had a lot of worries, but after the process, I put myself down a little bit. Especially, I talked a lot with my teachers while doing a lot of weekend dramas. I've been listening to a lot of advice, and it's been of great help."
Park Se-young is now planning to go back into 'Hard-working mode’. She also said she wants to try the things in her bucket list one after the other, which she set up earlier this year. Park Se-young's next step is anticipated as she is practicing her work-life balance properly.
"When I took a year off, I took a rest because I wanted to, but now I want to keep working. I can't do it my way, so I'll wait and see. There was a domestic trip among the bucket list this year. I love driving, so I want to go around alone. I want to find something that I can do in sports for a long time. This year, I set a goal of 'Let's do what I want without thinking’. I want to try moving that way.”
