[Zenith News=Jieun Oh] Kim Nam-gil of the drama 'The Fiery Priest' talked about his life's character.
Actor Kim Nam-gil and Zenith News met at a cafe in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, last month on the 29th for an interview about the end of the SBS drama 'The Fiery Priest'.
The SBS drama 'The Fiery Priest' is an extreme comic investigative drama in which a hot-blooded Catholic priest and a fool detective meet in a murder case and begin a joint investigation into the scandal. In the drama, Kim Nam-gil took the role of 'Kim Hae-il', a Catholic priest who is armed with tough charms and gut that are not like those of a priest.
When asked about his 'Life Character', Kim Nam-gil mentioned the MBC drama 'Queen Seondeok', one of his most representative works.
Kim Nam-gil said, "There are still many people who remember 'Bidam' of 'Queen Seondeok'. It's been 10 years and it's amazing how it's mentioned to this day". He then added, "But there hasn't been anything since 'Queen Seondeok.'" making people around laugh.
"Many people told me that priest Kim Hae-il of 'The Fiery Priest', is also my life character. I feel great because I have a chance to get closer to the public" he said, "But I think it's too early to say that it is a life character because I still have more to show you.".
Kim Nam-gil also said, "Even those who haven't watched 'Queen Seondeok' because they don't like historical dramas recognize me through this work. Even the young people who didn't know me now say, 'What? "It's Kim Hae-il!."
Meanwhile, 'The Fiery Priest' ended with a 22 percent viewership rating for the final episode (based on Nielsen Korea's pay platform).
